This is our "Hall of Fame," where you'll find Featured CDs from 2001. Remember, we do not sell CDs...our goal is to help easy listening artists be successful by highlighting selected projects. Please continue to support them!

James Last, whose world appeal is unmatched by any living easy listening artist, has a brand new music of Abba album. It features some orchestra, augmented by synthesizers, and is quite contemporary in appeal. While any plans for release in the USA are "hopeful" at best, it can be procured from the leading importers.

David Patt & André Mayeux, California Dreamin'

Guitarist David Patt pairs with pianist André Mayeux on Bankbeat's newest release, California Dreamin'. You may not recognize the artists' names, but they are both accomplished musicians, having produced scores of tracks for both Muzak and the broadcast custom music market. The best word to describe this album is "tasty." The rhythm will have your toes tapping and the arrangements and performances will be candy to your ears. Quoting the liner notes, "Many of the arrangements are done with full orchestral settings, while others are focused on the pure nature of a solo instrument." Our take is that you absolutely will not be disappointed with this one. Streaming audio is available on Bankbeat's website as well as ordering instructions.
Tracks include: California Dreamin', You've Got a Friend, Close To You, Killing Me Softly, Sound of Silence, Romance, Can't Take My Eyes Off Of You, For All We Know, If, Fire and Rain, What the World Needs Now, Let It Be Me, and Gavotta. Order from: Bankbeat Productions, (800) 742-6634

Brad Smith, The Magic of Broadway

Brad plays the grand piano and is backed by other keyboards, guitars, flute, oboe, cello, clarinet and a well programmed synthesized string sound.
Songs include: Soon It's Gonna Rain; On the Street Where You Live; If Ever I Would Leave You; My Favorite Things; As Long As He Needs Me; Sunrise, Sunset; Try to Remember; On a Clear Day; People; I Could Have Danced All Night; My Funny Valentine; Satin Doll; My Romance; and Where is Love. Total time of the CD is 54:53.
Digitally recorded and mastered (DDD), the sound sparkles, having been recorded in 2000. Also available on cassette. Order from: Bankbeat Productions, (800) 742-6634.

Percy Faith, Sound of Music/Kismet

Anyone reading this is probably a Percy Faith fan. Not too long ago, there was a pairing of two of Percy's earlier albums on Taragon, and this included the classic Sound of Music album, which was first released in the early 60s. Unfortunately, the audio quality was so hissy it was annoying. Well, now there's an alternative from England. Sony Music has paired Sound of Music with Kismet and the audio, while not perfect, is substantially better (at least to our ears).
Included are: An Ordinary Couple; And This is My Beloved; Baubles, Bangles & Beads; Bazaar of the Caravans; Climb Ev'ry Mountain; Do Re Mi; Fate; He's in Love!; How Can Love Survive; Maria; My Favorite Things; Night of My Nights; No Way to Stop It; Not Since Nineveh; Rahadlakum; Rhymes Have I; Sands of Time; Sixteen Going on Seventeen; So Long, Farewell; Stranger in Paradise; The Lonely Goatherd; The Sound of Music; The Sound of Music (Reprise); and Zubbediya. Samaris' Dance.
If you're interested, this CD can be ordered from most of the reliable online sources.
